raw blueberry pie and sourdough starter.

so yesterday evening i handmade coconut cream and butter, and while i was making it i was thinking
"this is the last time i am EVER making this!" BUT today i made the raw blueberry pie and used the coconut milk and butter and i think it might be worth all the work, i will see later on this evening when i have a slice!
now moving on to bread world this morning after i fed it and stirred it around it bubbled just a little but still  didnt look anything like everyone elses sourdough starter online ( A VOLCANO IN A JAR!!) so i added a pinch of yeast and some distilled water and a pinch of sugar and well it may not be a roaring volcano it is bubbling A LOT more and i am much happier! I HOPE IT TURNS OUT GOOD and i HOPE THAT THE RAW BLUEBERRY CHEESECAKE TASTES GOOD!!

days gone by

so everyday still im having my RAW smoothies, and i have so much raw food, im enjoying everyday and still i eat cooked foods. so everything there is still amazing and im still going strong. right now i am working on a sour dough starter, its pretty easy i mixed in 2 tablespoons wheat and 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed orange juice, but i added 2 teaspoons more because it was not watery enough. then do the same thing again for 3 days. i hope it works out and bubbles because i tried making a soudough starter before and i killed it( i stirred it waaayyy too much) so im doing everything right so far i just hope it goes well!

feeling ALIVE!

haha I cant tell you how HAPPY I feel lately! i have increased my raw food intake the last oh 5 to 6 days and I have never felt better! I feel so much more energy running through my veins and  feel so happy and so much more positive. BUT I  am still a little sick, but if I had not gotten sick I would have never have gotten back on the road with my raw food eating. I still would have been scarfing down all the cooked BAD foods (because I still eat cooked foods but very little) and eating a ton of junk foods OR gone days where I didnt eat anything because I felt guilty. Now I have 2 green or fruit smoothies a day with a healthy raw granola bar and raw salads. And the past 2 days I have been having eggs for dinner(cooked of course) and I feel amazing!
Eggs and cheese (blue cheese to be exact) and whole wheat whole grain breads are the only things that I eat now that are not raw. Because I dont want anything but raw! LIFE REALLY IS AMAZING! :)

Last smoothie of the day

this one had 2 and a half cups of strawberries 2 bananas 2 kiwis and 2 leaves of collard green leafs and a small sliver of beet. with a good amount of water. blend and serve then drink up.

RAW granola bars

so i just finished making some raw food granola bars. (well they are in the dehydrator at the moment.) from what i could taste of them they seem like they are going to be great!! (im sick so i cant taste very well)
well these are not 100% raw i added some honey and old fashioned oats but other then that they are raw.
cant wait to try them!!

by the power of RAW!

ok so i love raw food ever since i found out about it on t.v a few years ago. now i have been fighting a cold recently and this morning  i made a smoothie. it consisted of one cup frozen blueberries (it made it nice a cool) one orange (i think the orange had some blood orange in it,it was soo deep pink) one banana, and 2 kiwis and scoop full of flax seeds and OH how could i forget collard greens!! added in some water a blitz and in a minute my breakfast was ready. and it made me feel so so good. im going to have another in a couple hours. raw smoothies is all i want today.

raw warrior diet whats that?

So with the cleanse now behind me(THANK GOD ALMIGHTY) I am now starting the warrior diet. Now you may ask, what in the world is the warrior diet? Well let me tell you. The warrior diet is where you fast all day and then at the end of the day you get to eat. So you skip breakfast and lunch. So there of course are mixed reviews about this diet, but so far its been very nice for me. When I eat my meal I make sure its high raw not 100% raw but still like 75 -80% raw. but guess what im sick. :P
oh well I guess I deserve it the way I was fueling my body it came as no surprise. But once I am all better from my cold im getting right back into my normal workout routine. which is either run 3-4 miles or do INSANITY! I just hope this cold is almost over with, I hate being sick!!

MASTER CLEANSE!

ok so I love raw food and part of being raw is cleansing.
cleansing for me is extremely HARD! I love to eat and going days on end without any solid food ugh well is just HARD! But lately my diet has been anything but "healthy" and is far, far, far from being raw. Another reason I NEED to cleanse is because my asthma has been acting up and so have my allergies, another very important reason is I have been feeling like a zombie and have very to no energy. so tomorrow I am starting my master cleanse and I hope I can just get through the day without eating anything!

the house is alive with the smell of PIE!

couldnt help myself i had to make the pie! its a necturine/berry pie. with of course homemade buttery pie crust. BUT i think it might have been too runny :(
oh well im sure it will still taste great!

OK soo no more cooking for me for a while! my pie was well... not very good at all, the filling was bland but the crust was AMAZING!!!
i think i have run into a cooking rut. almost everything i have made has been well under par, not too thrilling. I think i am starting to get depressed not being able to make anything amazingly good. :*(

easy as pie

mmm is there anything better then the smell of a buttery pie crust followed by a fruity filling?
In my book no. I love pies i think they are the perfect dessert, they are light and buttery, and after watching martha bakes this morning i decided i wanted to make a pie. The only thing is i think im going to wait still. i like all the desserts to be finished before i make another one. so maybe in a couple of days. :)
besides there is always room for pie...

snow days bring boring days

So over here in my neck of the woods when we get snow people freak out. The last  3 days of the week we had snow days, and now there is talk of another snow day on Monday (tomorrow). Not because its cold or because there is snow but because of water running out.(thats what happens when pipes burst and water is waited) so another boring day at home with nothing to do.
then a thought cam into my head bake bagels, but then I remembered my brother bought a fresh bag last week and is still sitting on the counter.
And we also still have the cinnamon rolls I made. The only reason they are still sitting on the counter is because the got burned slightly when I was baking them, but nuke them for 30 seconds in the microwave and its heaven. So no baking for a while.

mmmm pizza!!

so the meat pizza according to my bro is very good and my vegie pizza is very good a bit tuff because it needed to be cooked more so i put it back in the oven. the sauce was amazing and yeah i am going to be making this again the flavors were very good!

ugh no pizza is created equal =/

so they came out very pretty but the dough was very sticky and the meaty pizza isnt as pretty as the vegetarian one. oh well still havent tried it yet so im crossing my fingers!!

Sauce and dough

                   the stubborn sauce
The dough really GREW in a matter of 2 hours
As you can see its plenty of dough hoping to make big pizzas!!
Baking with Julia love this book!!
and of course you have to have CHEESE with pizza

Pizza day

So early this morning I removed the pizza sponge from my oven. It hadn't risen at all infact it looked as if it decreased in size but I wasn't worried at all, because I could smell that it was perfectly good!
So I stirred in the sea salt and the oil and then the flour kneeded it for 8 minutes and then put it in a well oiled bowl and put the plastic wrap back on the bowl and placed it back in the oven.

Then I grated some cheese and chopped up some vegies. Then had to go to wally world to get a huge bag of flour and peperonni because the meat eaters in my house would not have been happy if they hadnt got their meat. After putting the groceries away I made some sauce, tasting it I found it to be too sweet, so after endless adding of spices and herbs it didnt seem to change,(I HATE to add salt into the sauce because I find the cheese and the dough have enough salt) but I was forced to add salt. Tasting it AGAIN for the 100th time it was very good! Now im just waiting for the dough to finish rising. and praying the pizzas dont turn out too SALTY.

THE START OF MY SPONGE! :D

this is the sponge after 2 hours after making it.
I left it in a warm stove and it really started to foam! So if your going to make a sponge (especialy during the winter) leave it covered with plastic wrap (a must any time of year) in a warm place.

pizza saturday!

So I am starting to make the pizza dough tonight. Its called the sponge for everyone that bakes bread all the time you will know what that is for those of you that have no idea in the world what a sponge is besides the one you clean with let me explain.
A bread sponge is when you mix warm water yeast and flour together and leave it from anywhere to 30 minutes to 8 hours to days to ferment to increase flavoring.
That is what I am doing with the pizza dough. I got the recipe from my moms old cooking book Baking with Julia. LOVE that baking book, ever since I was little I would look at the pictures and wish I could try all the beautiful pastries and breads, and now I am!
so its going to ferment from anywhere to 9-10 hours then Im going to add the rest of the flour and other ingredients in, then let it rise for 2-3 hours until doubled. CAN NOT WAIT! I can only hope it turns out as good as my moms pizza dough, thats why Im letting it ferment for so long so it can get really flavorful.
